Details:

  • To undertake and manage Permit applications to developers and consultants to investigate and treat the Authority’s coal estate.
  • To undertake and manage applications for statutory licences and other agreements and to administer extant licences and agreements.

Must have:

  • Degree or Masters in Mining, Geotechnical/ Environmental Engineering, Geology or a related scientific field.
  • Must have strong background in any of the following
    • Experience of geotechnical and site based
    • works
    • Experience of mining risk identification and developing investigation/treatment proposals.
    • Experience of working with and interpreting geological data

Arcadis – Lead Ground Investigation Rotary Driller (Vacancy posted – 14 November 2023)

Details:

  • Arcadis are looking for an experienced Rotary Lead driller to be based out of one of our base(s) in Thornbury or Newmarket.
  • The position will involve working on our modern rotary rig fleet across a variety of sites and sectors including manufacturing, petrochemical, construction and highways environments.

Must have:

  • A minimum 2 years’ experience acting in the role of Lead Driller – preferably holding an NVQ Level 2 in Land Drilling. – BDA audit would also be beneficial.
  • Experience in Logging to BS5930 and knowledge of Eurocode 7 would be beneficial.
  • A full, clean driving licence (Category B) is essential, supplementary entitlement for C1+E and/or C preferable.
  • Valid CSCS Card.
  • It would also be beneficial if the applicant holds Personal Track Safety (PTS) accreditations or an SPA/PIA training card. However, the required training will be provided in any event.

Arcadis – Drilling Support Operative (Assistant Driller / Labourer) (Vacancy posted – 14 November 2023)

Details:

  • Arcadis are looking for a new Assistant driller / Site Labourer to be based from our Thornbury or Newmarket facilities. The position will involve working throughout the UK across a variety of sites and sectors including manufacturing, petrochemical, and construction environments.
  • Whilst beneficial, no previous experience in land drilling is necessary as this is an entry-level role with great scope for promotion through to lead driller in the future, this role requires someone who enjoys working outside in a wide variety of site environments.
  • The role will require you to travel to sites across the UK during the working week and stay local to the drilling site Monday-Friday. PPE and Single Accommodation/Travel expenses will be provided.
  • Please note that, although the majority of work will be away, daily commuting to the depot will be required therefore, the successful candidate will reside within a reasonable commute from Thornbury.

Must have:

  • You must be a motivated person, who enjoys hands-on, outdoor jobs. A background of education or working in a labour-intensive role such as ex-military, construction, or agriculture would be advantageous.
  • A driving license is essential.
  • Ability to stay away from home Monday-Friday. Single occupancy accommodation, Travel and Food allowance will be provided.
  • Basic IT Skills
  • The following competencies/accreditations would be beneficial: CSCS, SPA/PIA, Personal Track Safety (PTS) but if not held the required training will be provided in any event by Arcadis.

Arcadis – Window Sampling Lead Driller (Vacancy posted – 14 November 2023)

Details:

  • Arcadis are looking for an experienced Window Sample Driller to be based out of our southwest facility in Thornbury.
  • The successful candidate will have experience in window sampling, ideally using an Archway competitor or Dando terrier.
  • Use of concrete coring, simultaneous casing, undisturbed (U70) equipment and SPT is required.

Must have:

  • Experience in Window sampling, Handheld sampling, use of modular rigs, ABS sampling or CBR testing would also be beneficial to the role
  • NVQ Level 2 in Land Drilling very beneficial but training will be given to achieve this qualification.
  • Holding a successful BDA audit card or experience of this process would also be beneficial.
  • Experience in Logging to BS5930 and knowledge of Eurocode 7 would be beneficial.

In Situ Site Investigation – Cone Penetration Testing (CPT) Operator (Vacancy posted – 3 October 2023)

Details:

  • Carrying out cone penetration testing (CPT) which is a form of site investigation on sites across the UK, potentially overseas.
  • The position involves working on our vast array of rigs. The successful applicant would learn how to drive and operate these rigs to complete CPTs and carry out the job successfully.
  • There is a lot of travelling involved with this position and nights away from home.
  • Full training will be given on the job by our friendly, senior operating team.
  • No previous knowledge of CPTs is required

Must have:

  • Basic ICT knowledge essential, especially the use of Microsoft Excel.

  • An enthusiastic and adaptable Groundworker with over 5 years’ experience to join our Ground Investigation-Site Services department in this growing Yorkshire-based company

The role:

  • Combines a range of field duties primarily involved in asset assessments for transmission / distribution network clients, whilst supporting departments in a variety of tasks

Summary of duties:

  • Foundation excavations, temporary shoring works and concrete coring
  • Support operative for machinery including 4WD and tracked fleet
