Work Placements Needed

May 14, 2021

The future of our industry depends on a regular flow of young and enthusiastic people choosing drilling as a rewarding career option, which is why the British Drilling Association has teamed up with the Ground Forum Undergraduate Mentoring Programme (GFUMP), an initiative that that matches undergraduates with industry mentors and provides two-weeks’ work experience.

GFUMP is looking for support from BDA Members to help with the two-weeks’ work experience offer.

With the programme being run nationally mentors and mentees may well be located geographically far apart, and with face-to-face placements uncertain due to possible future lockdowns or social distancing, virtual work experience will be all that is required.

Your commitment over the two-week’s placement will be to provide undergraduates with a feel for real-world working and to convey what is expected of the student. GFUMP will provide you with guidance on running the placement and even a suggested programme of work and activities for the duration.

For more information, contact Josie Rothera, Director, STEER Support & Mentoring CIC, who is managing the programme of behalf of the Ground Forum, on her mobile – 07980289581 or email – josie@steermentor.co.uk
