FREE Manual Handling Training Courses Available to BDA Members – September 2026

July 2, 2026

British Drilling Association (BDA) members are being offered the opportunity to attend FREE manual handling training delivered by Pristine Condition International, with dates now confirmed for Godstone, Kent and Glasgow.

Places are available on a first come, first served basis and members are encouraged to register early, as spaces are limited for each course.

The training focuses on the Pristine Principles, a practical approach to manual handling which challenges long-standing assumptions around lifting, movement and workplace technique. The courses are designed to help delegates understand how correct manual handling can reduce the pressure placed on the body, support safer working behaviours and help reduce the risk of injury during workplace and everyday tasks.

Two course options are available at each venue:

  1. The Passing on the Principles Staff Course, also known as the POPS Coach Course, is a one-day programme for nominated staff who will help pass on the Pristine Principles within their organisation. The course includes manual handling theory, practical coaching, use of supporting POPS materials, identifying correct and incorrect manual handling techniques, providing corrective coaching and understanding the role of TRACA® It also incorporates Pristine Condition’s Level 1 slips, trips and falls programme.
  2. The Manual Handling ‘Elite’ Training Course is a shorter, focused practical course of up to three hours. It introduces delegates to the Pristine Principles and helps them understand how these can be applied to manual handling tasks at work and at home. The course includes the main causes of injury, the body’s failings, the Jam Doughnut analogy, posture, balance, slips, trips and falls, and practical demonstrations relevant to the working environment.

Confirmed dates are:

Godstone, Kent

  • Tuesday 22 September 2026, POPS
  • Wednesday 23 September 2026, Elite

Glasgow

  • Tuesday 29 September 2026, POPS
  • Wednesday 30 September 2026, Elite

Both courses include practical elements, so delegates must be capable of taking part in workplace-based practical tasks. Appropriate PPE should be provided in line with company policy.

The training is FREE to BDA members and places will be allocated on a first come, first served basis.
