The British Drilling Association (BDA) is hosting a new webinar Tuesday 24 November exploring the importance of groundwater information in the ground investigation industry.

With groundwater a critical, but often underestimated, component of ground investigation, its presence, movement and variability can have a significant influence on ground conditions, geotechnical design and construction methodology.

Presented by Paul McMann, Chair of the BDA Training & Education Sub-Committee, and Katherine Jones, Director at Dunelm Geotechnical & Environmental Ltd, the webinar will explore the importance of obtaining reliable groundwater information during ground investigation and how groundwater data should be collected, recorded and interpreted.

The session will consider the significance of groundwater strikes and subsequent monitoring, as well as the factors that can influence groundwater levels during and after an investigation.

It will also highlight common issues encountered within ground investigation reporting and demonstrate how better collection and interpretation of groundwater information can reduce uncertainty and help manage geotechnical and environmental risks.
