The British Drilling Association (BDA) is pleased to announce its appointment as the lead organisation for the drilling industry within the Construction Leadership Council’s (CLC) Super Sector Competence Programme.
This key initiative supports the development and implementation of national competence frameworks across the built environment, with the BDA specifically overseeing the drilling sector under the Civils Super Sector (SLG 10.4).
Led by the Industry Competence Steering Group (ICSG), the Super Sector Programme is part of a wider effort to meet the requirements of the Building Safety Act and drive consistent competence across all disciplines within construction. It aligns with the work of regulatory and training bodies including the Building Safety Regulator (BSR), CITB, CSCS, IfATE, and Build UK.
The BDA’s role will focus on identifying and resolving competence gaps within the drilling industry, developing sector-specific solutions such as updated training standards, qualifications, and guidance to support safe, skilled and compliant practice. The programme provides a unique opportunity to embed robust competence expectations across the industry and promote best practice nationwide.
