BDA Audit – New Requirement for Wire Rope Inspection Training

The British Drilling Association (BDA) would like to announce that from September 2022 evidence of Wire Rope Inspection training will be required to be submitted as part of the pre-qualification for the BDA Audit.

Whilst the audit has included a ‘for information’ question, asking whether the Driller has received training in the inspection of wire ropes, the BDA has found that less than 25% of Auditees have undertaken a suitable course that outlines how to adequately inspect wire ropes in a geotechnical context.

With the inspection of ropes such an important and safety critical aspect the Driller’s daily routine, the BDA felt evidence of training on the topic must therefore be a part of the BDA Audit.
