The British Drilling Association’s (BDA) Training and Education Sub-committee met on 19th September 2024 via video conferencing to discuss ongoing initiatives and updates.
Key highlights include:
Land Drilling New Entrants Scheme:
Progress was reported on the current cohort, with one candidate completed, and further discussions on alternative methods for module delivery.
CSCS Cards:
The committee discussed feedback on the CSCS Card opinion poll and opportunities to clarify the correct cards for Assistant Drillers.
Audit Activity:
A slight year-on-year reduction in BDA audits was noted, largely due to non-renewals from major industry players. The committee also considered ways to further promote the importance of audits through client endorsements.
BDA Training Videos: Progress continues on developing educational resources, including a video on core handling and a storyboard for “The Life of a Sample.”
Dynamic Sampling Classification: Discussions focused on the complexities surrounding dynamic sampling techniques and the upcoming review of the associated VQs (Vocational Qualifications).
