The British Drilling Association (BDA) is proud to support the 1st BGA Women in Geotechnics (WiGeotech) Symposium: Inspire an Engineer, taking place on 2nd March 2026, at the Institution of Civil Engineers (ICE), London.
Organised by the British Geotechnical Association (BGA) and supported by the Association of Geotechnical & Geoenvironmental Specialists (AGS), the event will bring together professionals from across the UK ground engineering community, and of all genders, disciplines, and experience levels, to celebrate collaboration, share insight, and encourage the next generation of engineers.
A key part of the programme will be the WiGeotech Afternoon Tea, a networking session designed to inspire, connect, and promote inclusion within the industry. Attendees can look forward to keynote talks from leading voices, an engaging panel discussion, and opportunities to form meaningful mentoring and peer connections.
Focus areas include:
In a unique twist, attendees are encouraged to “bring a +One” – a student or early-career colleague, to widen participation and visibility across all stages of professional development.
The event will conclude with the announcement of Ground Engineering magazine’s ‘Top 20 Women in Ground Engineering 2026’, shining a spotlight on the exceptional talent driving progress in the sector.
Supported by a growing number of professional associations — including the British Drilling Association (BDA), Engineering Group of the Geological Society (EGGS), Temporary Works Forum (TWf), British Tunnelling Society (BTS), and others – this symposium represents an important step towards building a more inclusive and connected ground engineering community.
